DeLonghi ESAM3500.N Pros
Okay, we've used the other pages singing the praises of the DeLonghi ESAM3500.N, so we really don't need to spend a lot of time on the pros of this machine.
However, one thing that constantly appears in the reviews is that despite the price tag of this system, it still ends up cheaper for those that visit Starbucks and the like everyday.
The other constant with the ESAM3500, even from those who found fault with it elsewhere, is that the coffee it produces tastes amazing.
Alright. Let's move on and discuss those cons that some have found fault with.
DeLonghi ESAM3500.N Cons
One of the loudest complaints about the DeLonghi ESAM3500.N doesn't have to do with the unit itself, but with DeLonghi customer service. Some have been extremely frustrated by an apparent lack of help, yet others have been quite pleased. So, maybe it's just hit and miss and it depends on what side of bed your customer service rep got up on that morning.
Dealing with the machine itself, it seems the O-Rings on the ESAM3500 have a tendency to self destruct. If you're not familiar with an O-Ring, it's nothing but a little rubber ring. Rubber doesn't last forever under the best of circumstances, but these ones are prone to damage due to their environment.
Here's a hint. If you need to replace an O-Ring, you DO NOT need to get one from DeLonghi and get hosed on the price. Get it's proper measurements or take it to Home Depot and pick them up yourself, or get them from a local appliance repair outlet. Much cheaper, much quicker!
It's loud! But really, there isn't any way to grind coffee beans silently.
A lot of people have problems when it comes to attaching the milk pitcher. But if you align the nozzle with the top connector, you can gently but firmly form a tight connection. Another trick is to just run the frothing lid under hot water before use. Others suggest removing the pitcher by holding the body of it instead of the handle.
All functions of the ESAM3500 completely cease if it runs out of water, so make sure your tank is full before you begin brewing. Since it doesn't pick up where it stops when you refill the water mid process, you need to start the whole process again.
This machine does take some getting used to, and you do need to read the manual if you want your DeLonghi ESAM3500.N to give you years of service. You need to follow the cleaning procedures as directed.
